Focus On What You Want Not on What You Don’t

I was stirred out of bed this morning at a ridiculous hour. The clock read 3:37. Yikes. Luckily, it’s the first day of daylight savings time so my body is confused. But, regardless 4:37 AM is still pretty intense! Whenever I wake up before 5 AM. I always think of the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer, “when spirit wakes you up in the middle of the night do not go back to sleep.”

The first thought that bubbled up to the surface with my breath to welcome the new day was another quote from Dr. Dyer, “only focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.”

I laid in the darkness and reflected. I ran through the week in review realizing that my training was not anything out of the ordinary. My work demands were not unusually overwhelming. The low vibes were created by choice. It became apparent that I’ve been focusing on what I don’t want in my body and my life a lot lately.

It’s cold and flu season- I don’t want to get sick.
I ate ice cream last night- I don’t want to get fat.
My right shoulder has trigger points and feels slightly elevated- I don’t want to be imbalanced and get injured.
Many of my friends are in a relationship and I’m not- I don’t want to be alone.
How can other people write a book and I can’t seem to get it together- I don’t want to give up and feel like I failed myself.
Well, today I awoke with the spark of insight to shine brighter and radiate positive high-energy vibes again. If you hang out in the trenches of the downward spiral of emotions you get stuck there and after a while you start to think it’s right the place for you.

It’s not, and it will never be.

Set the intention to focus on what you do want. Take that negative thought and perform an inspiring 360 and be affirmative. If you want it, you already have it. So act like it. Let your thoughts be affirmations like:

I am healthy in body, mind, and spirit.
I am fit and getting more fit everyday.
I am love and I attract love into my life.
I am successful, talented, and gifted, and everything is happening in divine timing.
That’s the first step, next you have to live up to it.

Because I am healthy I eat food that whole, real food that nourishes me.
Because I am love I treat everyone I meet with kindness and compassion.
Because I am successful, talented, and gifted I work on my craft with enthusiasm and compassion for myself.

Reflection Questions:

What are you worried about or feel that you are lacking?
How can you turn it around into something positive?
What can you do NOW to start acting upon it?
